A bit more about Leafβ¦
I am a
Multidisciplinary artist currently residing on the unseeded ancestral homeland of the Anishinaabe people colonized as Chicago Illinois.
I received a BFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), graduating in the spring of 2020.
My passion is as a maker of domestic objects which are both sculptural and functional. I am interested in the intersections between art, craft, identity and design and how objects transform ordinary life into a pleasurable, and welcoming experience. I use many different materials in my work including, ceramic, fabric, wood, food, video and digital design.
I started designing websites towards the end of 2020 and have been exploring how I can make my corner of the internet more colorful and engaging through working with artists and small businesses one-on-one to craft portfolio websites and brand identities. I am interested in brands which focus on adding value to this human existence through art, self expression and connection.
Although I am primarily a sculpture artist, when the world went online, in the spring of 2020, I saw it as an opportunity to pivot my mindset on what is possible for me as an artist and I saw a need for this kind of design work in my community. Through setting boundaries with my digital devices, I hope to create a work/life balance which prioritizes time spent in nature, and in community with my chosen family to cultivate spaciousness and abundance.
